El Niño and Urban Runoff
This year’s El Niño is proving to be just as strong as the record breaking 1997-1998 event that flooded California. As El Niño fueled rains continue to enter storm drains, it is important to remember stormwater carries debris, animal waste, chemicals and other pollutants—also known as urban runoff—into local waterways without a filtration system in place.

Read moreThe Santa Ana River as a Work of Art
Local artist, Adam C. Maron, was inspired to sculpt the Santa Ana River Watershed into a work of art. By working with his favorite medium, clay, Adam spent hours upon hours creating the waterway with flora and fauna commonly found in the area. This includes plant species like cottonwood trees, cattail and arundo; as well as animals like egrets, raccoons and hawks.

RKATS 2015-2016: Norco High Visit the San Jacinto Wildlife Area
Inland Empire Waterkeeper had the privilege of sponsoring a field trip to the San Jacinto Wildlife Area for the AP Environmental Science class of Norco High. We were extremely excited for this trip to the Wildlife Area since it was the first time staff and students had the opportunity to explore this site.

IE Waterkeeper Rocks the River at FallFest 2015!
Community members had a blast learning about water conservation and sustainable products while listening to live music from local artists, eating Mexican food and drinking locally brewed beer!
RKATS 2015-2016: Summit High Visit the Santa Ana River
Inland Empire Waterkeeper kicked off the new school year with Summit High School’s AP Environmental Science class from Fontana! Students were given a trip to the Santa Ana River to learn more about the Watershed, water quality, and biodiversity!
